A brief history of the Lime Springs Library and surrounding historical sites.

The Lime Springs Library, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, was established April 01, 1950.  In March of 1964, the library was moved to the Town Hall.

 

Lime Springs is the home of Lidtke Mill National Historical Site located on the scenic Upper Iowa River.  Five miles southwest of Lime Springs is Hayden Praire, one of Iowa's best prairie preservations.  Lime Springs has a softball field, volleyball court, and swimming pool, which are used all summer.  Visitors enjoy the beautiful mural of the old Lime Springs depot painted on the side of the building located at the intersection of main street.  Kitchen Park with a beautiful gazebo in the center is located next to the library.  The children enjoy sitting in the gazebo reading books during story hour time, which is every Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for children ages three to five.  Games are also played in Kitchen Park during the Summer Library Program held in June and July.        

The library offers books on Audio cassettes, CDs, music CDs, DVDs and VHS tapes, puzzels, cake pans, games, computer software and of course books.  The library has six public access computer stations.  We have four staff members.
